What is Lifeline Support?
Lifeline Support is an emergency service system installed on the home phone (and does not affect the function of phone). The user wears a bracelet or necklace with an emergency button, which can be pressed when needed. The guardian center will contact the user immediately via phone call and arrange for assistance such as calling an ambulance. The guardian center will stay connected with the user until the situation is resolved. The staff at the guardian center also visits patients every two months to provide health advices, help patients take good cares of themselves, and build up self-confidence and self-esteem.
Since the launch of Lifeline Support in 2010, TFRD has been providing the support service to patients who live alone in central and southern Taiwan. The service secures patients’ safety by providing immediate response and assistance. The service also provides care and nursing advices to patients and builds up their self-confidence and self-esteem by telephone calls or home visits every two months. In 2017, TFRD has installed the lifeline support service for 92 patients and the total subsidy has reached TWD1,280,284.
