Personal Assistance Subsidy
Personal Assistance Subsidy

Thanks to the amendment of the People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act, personal assistance subsidy has become a new service offered by county and city governments since 2012. In the same year, TFRD launched the Personal Assistance Subsidy for Rare Disorders Program. The program aims to subsidize the expenses of personal assistants not covered by governments in order to encourage patients to make use of the government service.

In order to encourage patients to participate in the society, the program does not exclude patients who live in nursing homes or with foreign caregivers. Patients need to be eighteen years old or above and require personal assistant for social participation. TFRD will examine each patient’s financial condition and level of disability, then provide up to 60 hours of subsidy each month.
