In order to bring forth the inner strength of patients and help them re-
adapt psychologically to daily life, we start by showing interest and
creating relationships among the patients. So TFRD established a
"Performing Workshop" that meets once a week and consists of
singing and painting. The workshop serves as a dual purpose.
There are benefit performances and exhibitions for social interaction,
but it also helps the patients build self-esteem as well as reducing
the physical pain and psychological pressure that they might feel.
In 2003, TFRD Taipei office held a 26-week painting class for more
than 47 patients and their families and a 26-week singing class for
more than 59 participants. In March 2008, TFRD's Taichung and
Kaohsiung branch office also opened up the 21-week singing c
lasses for patients and their families. Both classes have more
than 45 participants.
Patients who can perform can join the Heavenly Melody Chorus and
give performances to the public on invitation. The most exciting
thing for the patients were the concert tour held in August 30 and
September 06, when patients had the chance to stand on the stage
and perform to more than 2,000 audience. |
